Sindh Government Decides to Purchase 1,000 More Pink EV Scooters for Women

Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to purchase an additional 1,000 pink electric scooters for women as part of efforts to improve safe and affordable transportation facilities.
Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the decision while chairing a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department. The meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Saleemullah Odho, and other relevant officials.
Sharjeel Memon said the provincial government is also planning to expand the mass transit system by launching an intercity Peoples Bus Service across Sindh. He stated that intercity bus operations would soon begin in Larkana, Dadu, Sehwan, Hyderabad, Sanghar, and other districts.
The minister further revealed that new electric buses and double-decker buses are also being planned for Karachi to improve urban transport facilities.
He added that new bus routes from Khairpur to Rohri and Khairpur to Ranipur will be launched next week.
During the meeting, officials discussed new routes for the Peoples Bus Service, distribution of pink EV scooters, EV taxi services, and ongoing and proposed mass transit projects.
Authorities also announced that more buses would arrive in Karachi in the coming months to further improve commuting facilities for citizens.
Sharjeel Memon directed officials to immediately resolve registration-related issues concerning the pink EV scooters. He said the Sindh government is taking practical measures to empower women and provide them with safe and dignified transportation options.
The meeting also agreed to introduce more double-decker and hybrid buses as part of efforts to modernize the province’s transport system.
Officials stated that the transport network across Karachi and the rest of Sindh is being upgraded in phases, with special focus on facilitating women, students, and daily commuters.
Sharjeel Memon said EV buses, hybrid transport, and pink scooters are not only environmentally friendly but will also provide economic benefits to citizens. He instructed authorities to accelerate the pace of ongoing projects so the public can benefit from the facilities as soon as possible.
