Air Travel Set to Become More Expensive Amid Rising Fuel Costs

Islamabad: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has warned that air travel is likely to become more expensive as airlines struggle to cope with soaring jet fuel prices.
According to details, IATA has raised alarm over a global shortage of jet fuel and sharp price increases affecting regions including Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America. The situation is placing significant financial pressure on airlines worldwide.
IATA Director General Willie Walsh stated that airlines can no longer absorb the high cost of fuel on their own. As a result, the burden will inevitably be passed on to passengers, leading to higher airfares.
He emphasized that, unlike the COVID-19 crisis, demand for air travel remains strong. However, the current challenge is driven by rising operational costs rather than a decline in passenger numbers.
Walsh also warned that fuel shortages in parts of Asia and Europe could lead to fuel rationing, increasing the risk of flight cancellations. Experts believe the situation may worsen during the peak summer travel season, when demand for flights is at its highest.
The aviation industry now faces mounting pressure as it navigates rising costs and potential disruptions in global travel.
