Severe Flour Shortage Pushes Prices Up in Lahore Markets

Islamabad: A sharp shortage of government-supplied flour has created a serious situation in Lahore’s open market, leading to a noticeable increase in prices.
According to market reports, the price of a 10-kilogram flour bag has risen to Rs. 910, while a 20-kilogram bag is now being sold for up to Rs. 1,810. Citizens are also forced to purchase a 15-kilogram bag at around Rs. 1,450.
Prices of privately supplied flour have also surged, with a 5-kilogram bag being sold between Rs. 770 and Rs. 830.
The shortage has caused concern among consumers, particularly low-income households, as basic food affordability continues to decline amid rising inflation.
