Closing of Religious Seminaries is a Condemnable Act, Double Standards Must End: Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch

Quetta – Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Amir and Member Provincial Assembly Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch has strongly criticized the sealing of religious seminaries (madaris) in various districts of Balochistan, calling it a “systematic and condemnable action” against religious institutions.
In a statement, he said that the closure of seminaries under registration-related directives issued by Deputy Commissioners is not merely an administrative step but a targeted action against institutions that preserve Islamic teachings and provide moral, intellectual, and social guidance to society.
He stated that madaris are places where religious education is safeguarded and where future generations are shaped, adding that it is unfortunate that these institutions are being targeted while other illegal activities in the province continue unchecked.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch said that this “double standard” of the authorities raises serious questions and is damaging public trust. He stressed that the government’s responsibility is to ensure justice and equality rather than adopting policies that suppress weaker segments of society and religious institutions.
He declared the actions against seminaries unacceptable and warned that they would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader demanded the immediate withdrawal of the notification, reopening of all sealed seminaries, and urged authorities to refrain from such measures in the future. He warned that otherwise public reaction could intensify, and the government would be responsible for any consequences.
