Trump Claims U.S. Seized Iranian Vessel “Tosca” in Gulf of Oman

WASHINGTON:Donald Trump said that the United States has taken control of an Iranian-flagged vessel named “Tosca,” adding that the U.S. Navy is currently inspecting its contents.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the vessel was intercepted after allegedly attempting to breach a U.S. naval blockade. He claimed the ship was seized following the violation.
According to Trump, the cargo vessel is approximately 900 feet long and comparable in size to an aircraft carrier. He said the U.S. Navy’s guided missile destroyer, USS Spruance, intercepted and stopped the ship.
Trump further stated that the Iranian-flagged vessel had been warned to halt in the Gulf of Oman but failed to comply, prompting military action. He added that U.S. forces struck the vessel’s engineering section and cited a history of alleged illegal activities as justification for the operation.
The U.S. president said the ship is now in the custody of American Marines. Meanwhile, Iranian military officials have condemned the incident as an act of piracy and warned that a response will follow.
