US Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Attend Iran Peace Talks in Islamabad on Tuesday: Caitlin Doornbos

Islamabad: US President Donald Trump has indicated that his special envoys will arrive in Pakistan this week to restart negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing conflict involving Iran, according to American journalist Caitlin Doornbos.

Posting on the social media platform X, Doornbos said that President Trump told her that special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will be in Islamabad on Tuesday for the second round of peace talks on Iran.

She added that during a phone conversation with the White House, President Trump confirmed that Witkoff is expected to arrive in Pakistan on Monday night, with the next round of peace negotiations scheduled for Tuesday.

Trump further stated that Jared Kushner, his son-in-law and a key Middle East adviser, will also participate in the talks. However, Vice President JD Vance, who led the previous round of discussions, will not be part of this delegation.

The renewed diplomatic efforts come at a time of heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Reports indicate that over the weekend, Iran fired on oil tankers attempting to pass through the vital waterway, further escalating regional instability.

Officials say the upcoming talks in Islamabad are part of ongoing international efforts to de-escalate tensions and seek a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
