Drugs Missing in Hospitals, Even Water Scarce in Operation Theatres: Young Doctors Level Serious Allegations Against Balochistan Health Department

Quetta: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan Supreme Council has expressed grave concern over the deteriorating condition of the health sector in Balochistan, alleging large-scale corruption and mismanagement within the Health Department.
In a strongly worded statement, the association claimed that the department is “in the hands of corrupt elements,” and accused the Health Minister and Health Secretary of serious irregularities, alleging that despite the utilization of billions of rupees, patients are deprived of even basic medicines in public hospitals.
The YDA stated that medicines and laboratory facilities in government hospitals have become nearly unavailable, forcing poor patients to purchase medicines from private pharmacies. It further highlighted the worsening conditions at Balochistan Medical Complex, claiming that even water is not available in operation theatres despite substantial funding allocations.
The doctors’ body also alleged that the trauma and cardiac hospitals have been turned into centers of favoritism and financial dealings, where merit is being ignored in recruitment and administrative decisions.
Calling for immediate action, the association demanded that the Chief Minister of Balochistan take notice of the situation and make public the details of recent recruitments at trauma centers. It also condemned the suspension of senior doctor Dr. Noorullah Musakhel, terming it an act of political victimization.
The Young Doctors Association warned that if immediate steps are not taken against what it called a “corrupt mafia,” it will be forced to launch strong protest actions in defense of the medical community and patients’ right to treatment.
