Deadline for Relocation in Tirah Valley Extended by Two Days

Peshawar: The deadline for relocation from the Maydan area in Tirah Valley has been extended by two days, allowing affected families to move until January 27 instead of January 25. The extension was granted due to difficulties caused by ongoing rainfall.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Arshad Mahmand stated that dozens of families were waiting at registration points for clearance. He urged those waiting to return home and resume the relocation and registration process once the weather improves, as heavy rain has increased the challenges for relocating families.

According to district administration officials, the relocation is part of a possible operation against terrorists in Tirah Valley. Over the past two weeks, 10,000 families have already relocated. Each relocating family is receiving an advance financial aid of PKR 250,000, along with a monthly assistance of PKR 50,000.

The administration said the military operation is scheduled to be completed within two months, with the return and rehabilitation of affected families beginning on April 5. The total population of Maydan is approximately 130,000 people. Compensation for fully destroyed homes has been set at PKR 3 million, while partially damaged homes will receive PKR 1 million.
