Trump Accuses China of Arming Iran, Beijing Denies Allegations

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has accused China of supplying weapons to Iran, an allegation that Beijing has strongly denied.
Speaking on the issue, Trump said he had written a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping, warning him against any such actions. He added that reports suggested China was providing arms to Iran and urged Beijing to refrain from doing so.
According to Trump, President Xi responded with a “very nice letter,” firmly stating that China was not supplying weapons to Iran.
The development comes amid heightened tensions following a report last week by a US broadcaster, citing intelligence sources, which claimed that China could provide Iran with a new air defense system within weeks.
China has rejected the claims, maintaining that it is not involved in transferring military equipment to Iran.
