Case Registered After Medical Student’s Alleged Suicide in Mirpurkhas Amid Harassment Claims

A case has been registered following the alleged suicide of a female student at a private medical college in Mirpurkhas, police confirmed on Saturday.
According to authorities, the FIR was filed on the complaint of the deceased student’s maternal uncle. The case includes sections related to sexual harassment and abetment to suicide.
The FIR states that a lecturer and two first-year students allegedly blackmailed the victim over her academic marks. It further alleges that despite multiple complaints to the college principal and his professor wife, the accused allegedly pressured the student to withdraw her complaints in their presence and threatened her with cancellation of admission upon refusal.
An investigative committee has been formed to examine the circumstances and motives behind the incident in detail.
Meanwhile, protests continue at a toll plaza in Mirpurkhas, where family members and civil society activists are staging a sit-in demanding the immediate arrest of those named in the case. Protesters have called for swift justice and accountability in the matter.
