DG Passports Clarifies in Senate: “No Change in Israel Clause” Amid Social Media Propaganda on New Passport Design

Islamabad: Director General of Passports briefed the Senate Standing Committee on Interior, clarifying misinformation circulating on social media regarding Pakistan’s new passport design and alleged changes related to Israel.

During the committee meeting, the DG Passports explained that only the **design and security features** of the passport have been upgraded, while **the clause stating that the passport is not valid for travel to Israel remains unchanged**.

The Senate committee discussed the propaganda being spread online, particularly by Indian media outlets, and appreciated the DG Passports for effectively addressing passport-related issues faced by senators and citizens.

It is noteworthy that an **Indian news channel falsely claimed** that Pakistan had removed the phrase declaring the passport “not valid for travel to Israel.” The Pakistani government has categorically denied these reports.

The same channel also alleged that Pakistan was preparing to send **20,000 troops to Gaza**, a claim that was immediately refuted by Pakistani authorities.
