Pakistan Playing a Positive Global Role as a Responsible State: Balochistan CM

Jacobabad: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti stated that Pakistan is playing a positive and effective role in the international community as a responsible state, which is a matter of pride for the entire nation.
Speaking to the media in Jacobabad after offering condolences to MNA and Chief Whip of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Mir Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani on the demise of his father, Mir Ahmed Nawaz alias Mir Babul Khan Jakhrani, the chief minister said that Balochistan remains a sensitive region where situations fluctuate, but the provincial government will not retreat even an inch in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
He emphasized that the PPP has always played a leading role in combating terrorism, noting that hundreds of workers, including former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, sacrificed their lives in this struggle.
Responding to a question about Iranian petrol prices, Bugti clarified that no official price has been set for Iranian petrol in Balochistan. He said that while limited informal trade exists in border areas, official petroleum prices in the province remain consistent with those across the country.
Commenting on the global situation, particularly tensions between the United States and Iran, he warned that if a ceasefire had not taken place, the entire region—especially Balochistan—could have been severely affected due to its geographical proximity to neighboring countries.
He praised the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, stating that their prudent strategies not only helped Pakistan avoid a major crisis but also enhanced the country’s global standing.
Bugti also expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mir Ahmed Nawaz Jakhrani, calling it a collective loss not just for the Jakhrani family but for the entire region and its tribes. Provincial ministers and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
