Surge in Demand for Electric Bikes in Karachi Amid Rising Petrol Prices

Karachi: The soaring petrol prices have triggered a sudden surge in demand for electric bikes in Karachi. According to Express News, the increased interest in electric two-wheelers has depleted stock at local dealers, with bookings for popular brands now stretching from three to six months.

Consumers are turning to electric scooters and bikes to save on fuel expenses. In Karachi’s largest bike and scooter market, buyers are actively searching for electric-powered models, but dealers report that stocks have run out and new bookings are being accepted months in advance.

One dealer stated that within just 15 days, electric scooter stock nationwide has been exhausted. Sales had picked up four to five days before Eid and continued steadily afterward.

Consumers noted that while some brands have raised prices, electric bikes are still difficult to find. “With daily petrol costs potentially reaching PKR 500, it could amount to PKR 15,000 per month. It’s better to invest in an electric bike and save,” said one buyer.

Another consumer highlighted the environmental benefits, adding that electric bikes help in controlling personal expenses while also being eco-friendly.
