CM Sarfraz Bugti Announces Relief Measures, New Business Timings in Quetta

QUETTA: Sarfaraz Bugti on Sunday announced a series of relief measures for the public, including revised business hours and steps to regulate the petroleum sector.
Addressing a press conference, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to providing maximum relief to citizens. He clarified that the Balochistan Police will not perform duties related to customs and will instead focus solely on counter-terrorism operations. He added that the public will not be harassed at check posts and warned that any such behavior by police personnel will not be tolerated.
Under the government’s relief package, markets will close at 8:00 PM, while restaurants and wedding halls will remain open until 10:00 PM. Bugti said these timings would be finalized in consultation with the trader community to ensure smooth implementation.
He further stated that the petroleum sector is being regularized, and individuals involved in the oil business will not face unnecessary interference at checkpoints. Police will only conduct checks aimed at preventing terrorism.
Highlighting energy-saving measures, the Chief Minister revealed that the government has so far saved Rs1.4 billion. As part of austerity efforts, he announced the auction of vehicles at the Chief Minister’s House, with plans to replace them with electric vehicles. He also noted that recruitment of 400 employees at the CM House has been halted, adding that cost-cutting measures have begun internally and similar plans are being developed for other departments.
