Mohammad Siraj’s Ball Forces Ben Stokes into “Zombie” Mode, Video Goes Viral

London: A moment of intense and humorous drama unfolded on the fourth day of the ongoing Test match between England and India at the historic Lord’s Stadium. Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj delivered a fierce delivery that struck England’s captain Ben Stokes directly on his sensitive area, leaving the latter writhing in pain on the pitch.
The delivery from Siraj, which was bowled round the wicket rather than over, failed to bounce as expected, landing straight on Stokes’ body. In agony, Stokes collapsed onto the ground, almost resembling a “zombie” due to the intensity of the pain. The commentary box, along with the crowd, erupted in laughter, with former England cricketer Nasser Hussain cheekily remarking, “No balls left in the over!”
Despite the painful moment, the Indian players, KL Rahul and Dhruv Jiral, did not show much concern for Stokes’ well-being, but Ravindra Jadeja stepped in to check on him. Interestingly, during the Headingley Test, when Stokes had hit Rahul in a similar region, he hadn’t bothered to inquire about Rahul’s condition either.
This incident added to the questions surrounding Stokes’ form during the series. So far in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar series, Stokes had scores of 20, 33, 0, and 33 runs, with his more cautious 44-run knock in the first innings of the Lord’s Test being a highlight. In the second innings, Stokes was playing sensibly when he suffered the painful blow.
Speaking on Sky Sports, former English fast bowler Stuart Broad described the incident as “exhausting,” but praised the intensity of India’s bowling attack. He also criticized Harry Brook’s rash decision-making, emphasizing that even a score of 220 could put England back into the contest, given the nature of the pitch.
The video of Stokes’ agony went viral on social media, quickly becoming a source of amusement for cricket fans worldwide.
