Decision Made to Supply Local Gas to K-Electric, Shortage Fears Emerge

Authorities have decided to supply locally produced gas to K-Electric, a move aimed at supporting power generation but raising concerns over gas availability in other sectors.
According to sources in the Ministry of Energy Pakistan, diverting local gas to K-Electric could create a shortfall in the system operated by Sui Southern Gas Company.
Officials estimate that the shift may result in a deficit of around 100 MMCFD (million cubic feet per day), which could lead to the implementation of gas load management schedules in affected areas.
The development highlights the ongoing challenges in balancing energy demands between electricity generation and domestic as well as industrial gas consumption.
