Storms and Hailstorms Wreak Havoc in Balochistan; Flooding Disrupts Life, Casualties Reported

Balochistan — Torrential rains, strong winds, and hailstorms have severely disrupted daily life across multiple regions of Balochistan, causing widespread damage and loss of life.
In Quetta, heavy downpours accompanied by strong winds inundated roads and low-lying areas. Similar extreme weather conditions, including hailstorms, were reported in Chaman, Qila Abdullah, and Ziarat.
The severe weather has caused significant damage to orchards, affecting crops such as apples, apricots, cherries, almonds, figs, plums, and pomegranates—posing a serious setback to local agriculture.
Flood-like conditions have emerged in Harnai, Kalat, and Surab, where rising water levels have blocked key roads and swept away vehicles in flash floods.
In Tehsil Gulistan, a passenger van and a truck were carried away by floodwaters, though 12 people were successfully rescued. In Harnai, passengers trapped in a vehicle managed to escape by jumping out, while at least six trucks were reported stranded in a flooded stream.
Tragedy also struck in Bolan and Bajaur, where lightning strikes and roof collapses claimed the lives of five people, including women and children.
Meanwhile, rain was also recorded in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Bhakkar, a woman was killed and a child injured after a roof collapsed due to rainfall.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as emergency response efforts remain underway in the affected regions.
