National Security Must Not Be Sacrificed for Political Interests, Says Balochistan Awami Party

QUETTA: The Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has strongly condemned statements made by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman against national institutions, saying that national security and the country’s sovereignty must not be sacrificed for political interests.

In a statement, the party said that Pakistan’s security was non-negotiable and stressed that the sacrifices of martyrs should not be politicised. Instead, it said, the need of the hour was to remain committed to the mission for which they had laid down their lives.

The BAP said Maulana Fazlur Rehman should wait for the democratic process and elections rather than seek shortcuts to power.

The party maintained that public support could not be secured through a narrative based on double standards, but through principled politics, a clear stance and the protection of national interests.

Reaffirming its position on national security, the Balochistan Awami Party said that safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and security must remain a priority beyond political differences.
