Peaceful Political Shift Needed in Balochistan, Says Amanullah Kanrani

Quetta (April 1, 2026): Former President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Amanullah Kanrani, has emphasized the need for a peaceful and positive political transformation in Balochistan, stating that such change is essential for the province’s stability and progress.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, Kanrani said that a potential alliance between Pakistan مسلم لیگ (ن) and Balochistan عوامی پارٹی could pave the way for peace, development, and prosperity in the province.

He stressed that the time has come to move away from politics driven by hatred and confrontation, and instead adopt a path based on dialogue, reasoning, and reconciliation. According to him, promoting harmony and coexistence among different communities is vital for long-term stability.

Kanrani also highlighted the importance of forming a broad political consensus, suggesting that smaller political parties would support such an initiative. He called for a comprehensive political charter to ensure the transfer of powers to the grassroots level and to guarantee constitutional and legal rights for the people.

Reflecting on historical political developments, he noted that political alliances and shifts have always been part of Pakistan’s democratic evolution. However, he emphasized that the true need of the hour is leadership that seeks to extinguish conflict rather than inflame it.

He concluded by expressing hope that if major political forces unite with sincerity, they can bring lasting peace, strengthen democratic institutions, and usher in a new era of development in Balochistan.
