Interior Minister Orders Immediate Removal of Illegal Pakistani Citizens from NADRA Database

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the headquarters of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and chaired a high-level meeting, directing strict action against individuals who have illegally obtained Pakistani citizenship.

During the meeting, NADRA Chairman Lt. Gen. Muhammad Munir Afsar briefed the minister on the agency’s current performance and ongoing and upcoming projects.

Minister Naqvi commended NADRA’s services and instructed that all individuals holding Pakistani citizenship illegally be immediately identified and removed from the national database. He emphasized that NADRA should fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the deportation of illegal foreign nationals.

He also directed the introduction of more advanced services for public convenience and the construction of modern NADRA offices on government-owned land in major cities. A master plan for this initiative has already been requested.

The briefing highlighted several measures undertaken by NADRA to improve citizen services, including the effective implementation of facial recognition for biometric verification, which requires collaboration with other government agencies.

Officials also stated that NADRA has canceled millions of identity cards of deceased individuals and set a 30-day period to resolve related issues. In coordination with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), mobile SIMs issued in the names of deceased persons are being blocked.

The meeting was attended by DG FIA Dr. Usman Anwar and senior NADRA officials.
