Mohsin Naqvi Says PTI Leadership Satisfied with Imran Khan’s Treatment Despite Propaganda
LAHORE: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has stated that the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was satisfied with the medical care provided to Imran Khan, but misinformation and propaganda regarding his eye treatment were spread.
Addressing a press conference, Naqvi said that over the past four to five days, political rumors claimed that Imran Khan had lost 85% of his vision or that one of his eyes was damaged, which he dismissed as false. He added that the government remained in continuous contact with PTI leadership regarding the former prime minister’s treatment.
Naqvi explained that the government had arranged top public and private doctors for Imran Khan’s care and was ready to follow medical advice for hospital admission if needed. He noted that PTI leaders, including Barrister Gohar, had confirmed their satisfaction with the treatment during consultations, and both the personal and political aspects of care were properly managed.
The minister accused Aleema Khan of delaying medical checks, claiming that political considerations were being prioritized over timely treatment. “If their intent was genuine, approvals would have been granted on the first day,” he said, adding that the situation was being used for political gain.
Naqvi emphasized that Imran Khan received a necessary eye injection under full precaution and that the government provides care to thousands of prisoners, questioning whether all other prisoners receive the same facilities. He criticized attempts to create public spectacles and mislead citizens for political motives.
Regarding law and order, the minister confirmed that recent court directives would be fully enforced, including restoring peace in Islamabad’s Red Zone. He also warned PTI workers to consider who is attempting to derail normalcy in the province, highlighting ongoing security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and blaming external factors, particularly India, for supporting terrorism in the region.
Naqvi concluded by stating that all facilities for Imran Khan, including food, are fully provided, and that recent claims about deficiencies in care were unfounded.
