Pakistan Reaches Staff-Level Agreement with IMF, Unlocking $4.5 Billion Support

Islamabad: Pakistan has reached a staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund, paving the way for significant financial assistance and strengthening the country’s economic outlook.

According to the IMF, once approved by its Executive Board, Pakistan will gain access to approximately $1 billion under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), along with an additional $210 million through the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).

The IMF stated that total disbursements under both programs are expected to reach around $4.5 billion. The funds will be released following final approval by the IMF Executive Board.

The organization acknowledged the Pakistani government’s commitment to reducing the fiscal deficit, noting that inflation is being brought under control and tax system reforms are ongoing. It also highlighted that the country’s economy is gradually moving toward stability and recovery.
