Government to Provide Subsidized Petrol for Motorcycles and Rickshaws Under Quota System

Islamabad: The government has announced plans to provide affordable petrol to motorcycle and rickshaw users through a special quota system, offering relief to low-income citizens amid rising fuel prices.

Sources indicate that the federal government has finalized a scheme to supply subsidized petrol at discounted rates for eligible users. Various options for implementing the program are under consideration, with final approval to be granted by Shehbaz Sharif.

Under the scheme, motorcycle and rickshaw drivers will receive petrol at preferential rates via a mobile application. Separate applications will be developed for petrol pumps and users. Petrol stations will first receive their dedicated app, while users will generate digital vouchers through their app. Once verified, fuel will be supplied according to the allocated quota.

The system has been finalized with input from OGRA, the Petroleum Division, and the Ministry of IT. Officials have indicated that the program could be expanded further to benefit more users in the future.
