Islamabad High Court Issues Show-Cause Notice Over Cancellation of Mashal Yousafzai’s Contempt of Court Case

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought responses from the Deputy Registrar Judicial and the Advocate General of Islamabad regarding the cancellation of the case list for Mashal Yousafzai’s contempt of court case against the Superintendent of Adiala Jail. The case pertains to the failure to arrange a meeting between PTI founder Imran Khan and his lawyer, Mashal Yousafzai, despite a court order.
The cancellation of the case list occurred due to the formation of a larger bench to hear petitions related to jail meetings. The IHC had earlier decided to consolidate all applications regarding Imran Khan’s jail meetings and constituted a three-member larger bench to hear over 20 cases related to this matter. The bench will be led by the Acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Sarfraz Dogar, with Justices Arbab Mohammad Tahir and Azam Khan also part of the bench.
In response to the cancellation of the case list for Mashal Yousafzai’s contempt case, Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan summoned the Deputy Registrar Judicial and the Advocate General of Islamabad to appear before the court in person today. The court demanded clarification on why the case, which was scheduled for today, had been removed from the list.
