Karachi: Authorities have launched a joint operation against overcharging, overloading, and traffic violations ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr in Karachi, with both Sindh Police and Motorway Police actively participating.

The special operation at the Jamshoro Toll Plaza was supervised by SP Motorway Police Adeel Shahzad and DPO Jamshoro Zafar Siddique.

Officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring safe travel for passengers during the festive season. According to authorities, a strict crackdown is underway against public service vehicles involved in overloading passengers and charging excessive fares.

DIG Javed Akbar Riaz stated that firm action is being taken to prevent accidents, including checking driving licenses, fitness certificates, route permits, and violations such as overspeeding.

He further added that passengers traveling on rooftops or in overloaded vehicles are being immediately offloaded, and such practices will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

A zero-tolerance policy has also been enforced against wrong-side driving, with strict action ordered against violators.

Meanwhile, according to Motorway Police spokesperson Qaiser Niazi, vehicles with worn-out or damaged tires are banned from operating on highways, and strict inspections are ongoing. Authorities have emphasized that action against traffic law violators will continue without discrimination.
