Sindh Government Faces Controversy Over Delayed Design Handover for BRT Red Line Project

KARACHI: An alleged delay of two and a half years in handing over the design of the BRT Red Line project to the contractor by the Sindh government has come to light, sparking controversy over the project’s execution.
The contractor of Lot-II has approached the court after its office was sealed, challenging the action through a formal petition.
The court has appointed a bailiff (nazar) to inspect the site and directed him to prepare an inventory of machinery and submit a detailed report.
It further ordered that the cost of the bailiff’s visit will be borne by the petitioner. However, the court rejected an oral request for immediate de-sealing of the site.
Notices have been issued to TransKarachi, the Sindh government, the Mukhtiarkar, police, and the Deputy Commissioner (East). The hearing has been adjourned until April 29.
