Asif Calls Pakistan’s Hospitality to Afghans “Biggest Mistake” Amid Taliban Allegations

Islamabad: Khawaja Muhammad Asif responded to recent allegations by the Afghan Taliban, criticizing their claims and highlighting their own violent actions.

In a statement on X, Asif accused the Taliban of attacking mosques, killing worshippers, targeting civilians, markets, and schools, and harming innocent children. He also condemned their involvement in drug smuggling, describing it as a primary source of their income.

Asif stated that the Taliban were attacking the very state that had provided them shelter for 50 years. “Those who make commitments do not honor them, and they demand ransom to fulfill promises,” he said. He emphasized that Pakistan not only gave them refuge but also stood up to a superpower on their behalf and hosted them across three generations.

Reflecting on Pakistan’s 78-year history, Asif remarked, “We have made many mistakes, but our hospitality toward them remains the biggest error. May Allah forgive us. Ameen.”
