Balochistan Deputy CM Shahid Rand Emphasizes Islam as a Religion of Peace and Tolerance on International Day to Combat Islamophobia

Quetta: On the occasion of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, Balochistan’s Deputy Chief Minister for Political and Media Affairs, Shahid Rand, highlighted that Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance, patience, and brotherhood, teaching humanity mutual respect, justice, and harmony.

Shahid Rand stated that linking Islam with extremism and violence is not only inaccurate but also reflects a harmful and negative trend that must be effectively addressed at the global level. He added that celebrating the International Day to Combat Islamophobia on March 15 in Pakistan marks a significant diplomatic achievement, raising global awareness about the severity of this issue.

The Deputy CM praised Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for courageously representing Islam’s true, moderate, and peaceful identity at international forums, emphasizing that Islam promotes peace and humanity. He noted that the Balochistan government is taking serious measures to foster religious tolerance, interfaith harmony, and mutual respect, ensuring that people of all faiths and cultures can live peacefully.

Shahid Rand urged the global community to take effective action against organized propaganda, prejudice, and hate campaigns targeting Muslims worldwide. He emphasized that insulting any religion or its followers under the guise of freedom of expression is morally wrong and violates international laws and fundamental human rights principles.

He concluded by stating that Pakistan, and Balochistan in particular, aspire to a world where followers of all religions are treated with equal respect, and religious harmony is promoted. Raising awareness against Islamophobia and countering extremism and hatred, he said, can only be achieved through dialogue, tolerance, and mutual respect.
