Digital Lottery Begins for Prime Minister’s Free Solar Scheme in Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit-Baltistan: The government of Pakistan has officially launched a digital lottery for selecting beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Free Solar Scheme in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The inauguration of this important phase was carried out by the caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Justice (R) Yar Muhammad. Additional Chief Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed confirmed that a fully transparent and modern digital lottery system has been implemented to ensure that the deserving applicants receive their rightful benefits.

Under the scheme, a total of 58 megawatts of solar systems will be installed across the region, with 40 megawatts allocated for domestic consumers and 18 megawatts for small businesses and IT institutions.

Provincial ministers described the initiative as a major convenience for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, highlighting that it will help address the electricity shortage while also contributing to the region’s socio-economic development. Officials emphasized that small businesses and the IT sector will particularly benefit from this program.
