Balochistan Moves Forward on Digital Media Policy, DGPR Holds Consultative Meeting with Digital Publishers

Quetta: An important development has been made toward formulating a comprehensive digital media policy in Balochistan, as Director General Public Relations Askar Khan chaired a consultative meeting with digital publishers and social media influencers to discuss key aspects of the proposed policy.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various digital media outlets and social media platforms, including journalists and publishers such as Jeend Baloch, Zafar Achakzai, Ali Shah, Agha Ubaid, Murtaza Tareen, Bebarg Baloch, Murtaza Zehri, Naqeebullah, Fazal Rehman, Abdul Wakeel, and Sohail Ahmed, along with officials from the DGPR office.

Speaking on the occasion, Askar Khan said the initiative is being undertaken in line with the vision of Mir Sarfraz Bugti to organize and regulate digital media through a formal policy framework. He noted that consultations with all stakeholders are being conducted to finalize an inclusive and effective policy.

He further announced that the government is developing a comprehensive strategy to provide facilities and social media allowances for digital publishers and individuals associated with online platforms. The proposed policy will emphasize merit-based opportunities and priority for local professionals in order to create more opportunities for youth and media workers in Balochistan.

Participants highlighted that digital platforms have become a crucial source of information in the modern era. Therefore, strengthening cooperation between the government, traditional media, and social media representatives is essential to ensure the dissemination of accurate and positive information.

The DGPR expressed hope that such consultative meetings will continue in the future to refine and implement policies that support the growth of digital media in the province.
