Balochistan Awami Party Alleges Police-Criminal Nexus Amid Rising Street Crime in Quetta

Quetta: The Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has raised serious concerns over the surge in theft, robbery, and street crimes in Quetta, alleging a disturbing nexus between local police and criminal elements.

In a statement issued by BAP Quetta district, the party highlighted that areas under City, Saddar, Saryab, and Kachlagh police jurisdictions have become hotspots for criminal activity, leaving residents vulnerable during the holy month of Ramadan. The statement accused law enforcement of negligence, noting that criminals now openly shoot at civilians, causing injuries and fatalities.

The party also claimed that a ringleader of a robbery gang, reportedly the brother of Shalkot police station SHO, was arrested but attempts are being made to shield him. Despite this, IG Police and other authorities have taken no visible action, raising questions about accountability.

Recent incidents include the murder of a woman in Zarghoonabad during a robbery, along with daily cases of motorcycles, cash, and mobile snatching. The BAP condemned these acts, emphasizing that persistent shootings, killings, and robberies have created widespread fear among citizens.

The party demanded strict action against criminal elements and urged the police to improve efficiency and accountability to restore public safety in Quetta.
