KP Govt Announces Virtual Meetings and 50% Work-from-Home Policy to Conserve Fuel

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to make all official meetings 100 percent virtual and implement a 50 percent work-from-home policy in government departments as part of fuel conservation measures.
According to a statement issued by Shafique Jan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, the provincial cabinet has approved the Fuel Conservation and Responsible Governance Initiative.
Under the plan, fuel-saving measures will be implemented for two months, with a possible extension after reviewing the situation. The government has also approved a 25 percent reduction in fuel allowance for government vehicles, which increases the overall reduction to 50 percent, as a previous 25 percent cut had already been implemented during the COVID-19 period.
However, police, rescue services, and other law enforcement agencies will be exempt from the fuel cuts.
The government has also decided to reduce unnecessary use of VIP protocol vehicles and helicopters, while imposing restrictions on non-essential events and official dinners to ensure austerity in government spending.
Shafique Jan further stated that there is a proposal to keep educational institutions closed on Fridays to help reduce fuel consumption. Authorities will also monitor petrol pumps daily and take strict action against hoarding, while ensuring adequate diesel supply for farmers during the wheat harvesting season.
