Punjab Govt Launches ‘Rehmat Card’ Scheme for Widows and Orphans

Lahore: The Government of Punjab has announced a new welfare initiative aimed at providing financial support to widows and orphaned children across the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has formally approved the “Rehmat Card” scheme, under which widows will receive Rs100,000 each, while orphaned children will be given Rs25,000 as financial assistance.
While chairing a high-level meeting, the chief minister said that widows and orphans should not feel alone, adding that the government will ensure their complete support and protection. She emphasized that helping vulnerable segments of society is a fundamental responsibility of the government and that the initiative aims to strengthen them financially.
Registration Process
Eligible individuals can register for the Rehmat Card through multiple channels, including a dedicated mobile application and website. Applicants can also visit nearby offices of the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Department across the province for registration.
Meanwhile, Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari said during a media briefing that under the Ramzan Nigehban Program, financial assistance has already been successfully delivered to three million beneficiaries, with a target to reach four million people in the coming days.
She added that thousands of people are being provided daily meals across the province through iftar initiatives launched by the chief minister, reiterating the government’s commitment to supporting deserving individuals during the holy month of Ramadan.
