Pakistan Becomes Region’s Most Expensive Country for Petrol Amid Middle East Conflict

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has begun to impact Pakistan, making it **the country with the highest petrol prices in the region**. Currently, petrol in Pakistan is being sold at **PKR 321 per liter**.
Comparatively, petrol prices in neighboring countries are significantly lower:
* **Qatar:** PKR 144 per liter
* **Saudi Arabia:** PKR 172 per liter
* **United Arab Emirates:** PKR 186 per liter
* **Oman & Bahrain:** PKR 172 per liter
Internationally, petrol costs:
* **USA:** PKR 247 per liter
* **India & China:** PKR 305 per liter
On the other end of the spectrum, petrol is extremely cheap in **Libya and Iran**, costing only around **PKR 5.50 per liter**, while **Hong Kong** has the highest price globally at **PKR 1,077 per liter**.
Analysts attribute Pakistan’s high petrol prices to a combination of **global oil price volatility** due to the conflict, **currency depreciation**, and domestic taxation, putting additional pressure on consumers.
