Sarfaraz Ahmed Set to Become Pakistan Test Team Head Coach

Lahore: Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is set to be appointed as the head coach of Pakistan’s national Test cricket team.
According to media reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will soon make a formal announcement regarding his appointment. Sarfaraz is likely to assume his responsibilities during Pakistan’s upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.
The position of Test head coach had remained vacant since the resignation of Australian coach Jason Gillespie. In the interim, Azhar Mahmood served as acting head coach during the series against South Africa.
Pakistan is scheduled to play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh national cricket team in May. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2027 cycle. The first Test will begin on May 8, while the second match is set to start on May 16.
Previously, Sarfaraz Ahmed was appointed as mentor of Pakistan’s Under-19 team. Under his guidance, the team won the Asia Cup, and he also served as mentor during the recent Under-19 World Cup.
