Punjab govt moves to make E-Tags mandatory for all vehicles
LAHORE: The Punjab government has taken important decisions to further strengthen the security system in the province.
In this regard, a principled decision has been made to make it mandatory to install E-Tags on all vehicles, including motorcycles. This decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The meeting took a detailed review of the overall law and order situation.
According to officials, it will be easy to monitor the movement of vehicles through e-tags. This will enable immediate identification of stolen or suspicious vehicles. The government says that the use of modern technology will help in preventing crimes. The Chief Minister has officially approved this project and directed the relevant institutions to implement it soon.
Another important decision was also taken in the meeting. The Punjab Cyber Crime Investigation Unit will be established in the province. The aim of this unit is to prevent online crimes and provide immediate help to the victims. According to sources, a special cell will be created for cases of cyber crimes against women and girls. Approval has also been given to establish a District Online Crime Center in each district.
It has also been decided to tighten surveillance on provincial entry routes to improve security. Steps will be taken to prevent movement through unconventional routes. Searchlights will be installed at check posts. A surveillance system through drones will also be introduced. Instructions have been issued to ensure rooftop security monitoring.
Sources say that the Chief Minister has also ordered the immediate purchase of a modern drone defense system. A strict ban will be imposed on the illegal use of drones.
