Drone Attack Targets Oil Refinery in Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura

Riyadh: A drone attack targeted an oil refinery in Ras Tanura, prompting heightened security measures at the strategic energy facility.
According to a spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, two drones were intercepted and shot down near Saudi Aramco’s Ras Tanura installations. Debris from the intercepted drones caused a limited fire at the refinery, which was later brought under control. No civilian injuries were reported.
Shipping sources said the incident occurred during oil loading operations at Ras Tanura Port. A chartered vessel of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) was present at the port at the time, loading oil destined for Pakistan. An emergency was declared on board the vessel, and oil loading operations were suspended following the attack.
International media reported that the refinery adjacent to Ras Tanura Port was temporarily shut down as a precautionary measure, while authorities confirmed that the limited fire had been fully contained.
The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions, raising concerns over the security of key energy infrastructure in the Gulf region.
