President Zardari Says Pakistan Stands With Iran After Reported Martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei

**Islamabad:** President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief over the reported martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other senior Iranian leaders, reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian nation.
In a statement, President Zardari conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Iran, saying Pakistan stands with the Iranian nation in this moment of sorrow. He prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and for patience and strength for the Iranian people to endure the loss.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed sympathy with Iran over the reported killing of Ayatollah Khamenei. The prime minister stated that the government and people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with Iran during this difficult time and extended sincere condolences on the leader’s martyrdom.
He also voiced concern over what he described as a violation of international law, emphasizing that it is a long-established principle that heads of state should not be targeted. The prime minister offered prayers for the departed soul and for resilience among the Iranian people in the face of what he termed an irreparable loss.
According to reports, Ayatollah Khamenei was killed in attacks allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel. Iran has since vowed to respond, raising fears of further escalation in the region.
