PTI Leaders Approach Court Over Alleged Police Torture During Custody

Karachi: Leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have approached the Sindh High Court seeking registration of a case against police officers over alleged torture during their custody.

PTI leaders Raja Azhar and Faheem Khan filed a miscellaneous criminal petition in the Sindh High Court. According to their lawyer, Muneeb Khattak, the two leaders were allegedly abducted by police from Korangi Mehran Town, Karachi, on February 8, and subjected to severe torture while in custody. The petition argues that the police actions constitute criminal offenses and seeks directions to register a case against the officers involved.

The petition states that a lower court had rejected the request for case registration based on a police report. The petition names the DIG East, SSP Korangi, DSP, and other officials as respondents.
