Key Changes Approved in ‘Mera Ghar Mera Aashiyana’ Low-Cost Housing Scheme

**Islamabad:** The government has approved significant amendments to the low-cost housing scheme “Mera Ghar Mera Aashiyana” during a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) chaired by Federal Minister for Finance **Muhammad Aurangzeb** in Islamabad.
According to official sources, the meeting decided to introduce major revisions aimed at facilitating homebuyers and improving access to affordable housing finance.
Under the revised framework, the maximum housing loan limit has been increased to Rs10 million (one crore rupees), providing greater financial flexibility for applicants.
In another key development, a uniform interest rate of 5 percent has been fixed for homebuyers under the scheme. Additionally, previously disbursed loans will also be adjusted to the new 5 percent rate, offering relief to existing borrowers.
Officials said the changes are intended to promote home ownership, stimulate the housing sector, and provide affordable financing options to low- and middle-income groups.
