Indian Journalists Slam Team After 76-Run Defeat to South Africa, Fear Rising Even Against Zimbabwe and West Indies

Mumbai: Following India’s 76-run loss to South Africa in the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Indian fans and cricket analysts have heavily criticized the national team’s performance.
Renowned Indian sports journalist Vikrant Gupta remarked that the defeat exposed that India was not as strong as claimed over the past year and a half.

Gupta added that even teams like Zimbabwe and West Indies now appear formidable. He criticized India’s slow scoring rate, joking that their run rate fell faster than the stock market.
Highlighting South Africa’s strategic approach, Gupta pointed out that India’s batting displayed ego and arrogance despite high expectations, with a clear lack of common sense and tactical discipline. The journalist emphasized that the team must address these shortcomings to remain competitive in the remaining Super 8 matches.
