National Dialogue Committee Urges Political Leaders to End Hostility and Embrace Dialogue

Islamabad: The National Dialogue Committee (NDC) has called for an end to the tense and hostile political environment in the country, urging all political leaders to prioritize dialogue. The committee emphasized that former Prime Minister Imran Khan has the right to access his personal doctors, and political disputes should not interfere with basic human rights.
Speaking at a press conference, Fawad Chaudhry highlighted the nation’s concern over Imran Khan’s health and stressed that he should be allowed full access to his personal physicians. Chaudhry added that decisions regarding whom Khan associates with should also remain his prerogative. He emphasized that the NDC is playing a crucial role in stabilizing Pakistan’s political climate.
“Despite efforts by Imran Khan and his colleagues, no significant change occurred. Pakistan’s economy is under severe stress, with 125 international companies leaving the country, and reports from the IMF and State Bank indicate the financial burden on citizens is immense,” he said. Chaudhry further noted that the government currently lacks a clear mandate, creating a significant gap between the state and the public, and stressed the need for political leaders to convene collectively rather than rely on mass movements.
Former Federal Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani criticized the President for a recent controversial statement that demeaned women, calling it inappropriate and urging the President to retract it. He added that unnecessary remarks against Imran Khan are counterproductive, and the only solution at present is the establishment of a national government.
Barrister Muhammad Saif also underscored the need for political reconciliation, noting that terrorism has affected over half the country and that Pakistan requires a united and stable political environment. He echoed the call for an end to hostile rhetoric, emphasizing that all political leaders should focus on dialogue to stabilize the nation.
The NDC reiterated that constructive engagement among all political parties is essential to restore public confidence and address the country’s pressing political and economic challenges.
