Court Rejects Bail Plea of Podcaster and Anchor Rehan Tariq in Blasphemy Case

LAHORE: A court in Lahore has rejected the post-arrest bail application of well-known anchor and podcaster Rehan Tariq, who was arrested in connection with a blasphemy case.
During the hearing, the court had sought the complete case record from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), the cybercrime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency. The agency submitted the relevant record in compliance with the court’s orders.
According to reports, Rehan Tariq’s counsel, senior lawyer Mian Dawood Advocate, presented detailed arguments in support of the bail application and requested the court to grant his client post-arrest bail.
After hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence and conducting a detailed review of the evidence and case record submitted before it, the court dismissed the bail plea.
Rehan Tariq was arrested on serious allegations of blasphemy and is currently in judicial custody. Following the rejection of his bail application, he will remain in jail pending further legal proceedings.
The case continues to proceed under the relevant provisions of Pakistani law.
