Opposition Alliance Announces End of Sit-In at Parliament House

Islamabad: The opposition alliance has announced the conclusion of its sit-in at Parliament House.

Speaking to the media, Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said the protest, which was held over concerns about the health of PTI founder Imran Khan, will be called off. “Our members of the National Assembly staged a protest in Parliament, and we also took the health matter to court. Our demand was to ensure access to the personal doctors,” he explained.

Abbas added that Parliament had effectively been turned into a “prison” during the sit-in, and when members tried to leave, the exits were blocked. He noted that restrictions were imposed on protestors, and when news regarding Khan’s eyes emerged, Mahmood Achakzai suggested a hunger strike. The protest was aimed at securing medical access for the PTI founder.

The opposition leader emphasized that the concerns of Khan’s sisters were valid and that they should be allowed to meet him. He also expressed hope for improvement in Khan’s eye condition and urged that he be transferred to Shifa International Hospital for treatment.
