Quetta (Qudrat Daily) – Under the second phase of the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI), interest-free loans worth Rs 3.2 billion were distributed among 847 farmers in Balochistan. A ceremony was held in Quetta, where Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti participated as the chief guest. The event was attended by senior military and civil officials, and farmers were handed over their cheques on the occasion.

In the first phase of the initiative, 257 farmers across 12 corps headquarters received Rs 685 million in interest-free loans, which was successfully implemented. Building on this success, the second phase covers 35,609 acres of land for cultivation. During the ceremony, a documentary highlighting the achievements of the Green Pakistan Initiative was also screened.

Addressing the ceremony, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said such initiatives promote agriculture, a major contributor to the province’s exports. He emphasized that the Balochistan government is committed to farmers’ welfare and the overall prosperity of the province.

Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan was also present. Local farmers welcomed the provision of interest-free loans with easy installments, calling it a farmer-friendly step that will not only ease their financial burdens but also make barren land fertile, leading to a new agricultural revolution in Pakistan.
