Imran Khan Undergoes Detailed Medical Examination at Adiala Jail; Second Eylea Dose Scheduled for Feb 25, Says Tariq Fazal Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that Imran Khan underwent a detailed medical examination on Sunday afternoon inside Adiala Jail in line with government directives and under complete transparency.

In a statement shared on X, the minister said all necessary facilities were provided at the jail premises to avoid any shortcomings. A slit lamp, OCT scan machine, and a fully equipped heavy ambulance were brought inside the jail for the examination.

Doctors Dr Arif from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Dr Nadeem Qureshi from Shifa International Hospital conducted the physical examination. Senior specialists Dr Asim Yousaf and Dr Mirza joined the consultation via conference call. Barrister Gohar was also kept informed about the developments.

According to the initial report, there has been a clear reduction in swelling and improvement in vision, with no major complications observed. The government had informed the family that they could be present during the examination; however, no representative attended. Officials said the entire process was carried out under the supervision of independent experts.

The minister further stated that one dose of the Eylea injection has already been administered, while the second dose is scheduled for February 25. Experts believe Vabysmo could be an alternative treatment option, but due to positive results from the current therapy, it has been decided to continue with Eylea for now. The next step will be an angiogram, after which laser treatment may be considered if required.

Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry emphasized that despite his status as a prisoner, Imran Khan is being provided all necessary medical facilities. He said it is the state’s responsibility to ensure quality healthcare for every citizen and that no negligence has been shown in this matter.
