Former Pakistan Captain Mohammad Yousuf Calls for End to Political Interference in Cricket

Lahore: Former Pakistan cricket team captain Mohammad Yousuf has demanded an end to political interference in Pakistani cricket, calling the current situation the darkest period in the nation’s cricketing history.

In a statement, Yousuf said, “It breaks my heart to see incompetent individuals holding positions and influencing the team. They must be removed from their roles for cricket to regain its former glory.” He emphasized that no strong team can be built until personal agendas and political influence are removed from the sport.

Previously, Yousuf had also expressed his opinion that players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shadab Khan have completed their time in the national squad.

In a post on social media platform X, he suggested that Pakistan’s T20 squad needs fresh performers, warning that hollow victories against weaker opponents will no longer be acceptable.

This statement comes after Pakistan suffered a 61-run defeat to India in a crucial match on Sunday, resulting in India qualifying for the next stage of the tournament.
