Mismanagement Reported During Class IX Math Exam at Quetta Center; Inquiry Ordered

Quetta: Alleged mismanagement was reported during the Class IX Mathematics examination conducted under the supervision of the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education at a local examination center in Quetta.

According to details, the incident occurred at the Government Railway Girls High School, where the second-time paper was scheduled. The examination hall was opened at around 2:30 pm, while answer sheets were reportedly distributed to candidates at 3:30 pm.

Sources said that the staff on duty failed to mark attendance on the candidates’ admit sheets. At approximately 5:30 pm, answer sheets were collected from the students. When some candidates requested additional sheets, the superintendent allegedly refused, stating that since identification details had not been marked on the initial answer sheets, extra sheets could not be issued.

Despite repeated requests from the students, no additional sheets were provided, leaving several candidates in distress, with some reportedly breaking into tears. During the incident, a verbal exchange also took place between a female board official and the superintendent.

Students were reportedly kept inside the hall to complete the identification process, and were allowed to leave around 6:00 pm. Parents and guardians waiting outside the center expressed concern over the delay.

Controller of Examinations, Zia-ul-Haq, confirmed that complaints had been received regarding the matter. He said the chairman had taken notice of the incident and an inquiry committee had been formed. Action would be taken against those found responsible, he added.
