Flash Flood Warning Issued for Northern Balochistan and KP Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

Quetta/Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning of flash floods in northern parts of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, forecasting strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall across large parts of the country.

According to the latest advisory, the current spell of intense weather is expected to continue until March 30, raising concerns of urban flooding and overflow in local streams and nullahs. Authorities warned that heavy downpours, particularly on the evening and night of March 29, could damage weak infrastructure.

Several districts in northern Balochistan—including Zhob, Musakhel, Sibi, Kohlu, Barkhan, Nasirabad, and Loralai—have been identified as highly vulnerable to flash floods.

Similarly, upper and central areas of KP, as well as Kashmir, are at risk of rising water levels in streams from Sunday evening through Monday.

The weather department stated that most parts of the country will remain partly cloudy, with rain and thunderstorms expected in Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northeastern Balochistan. Light rain is also expected in parts of southern Punjab and Sindh, with chances of hailstorms in some areas.

Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather and to stay away from streams and low-lying areas to prevent any loss of life or property.
