Clash at Karachi: Police Use Tear Gas and Baton Charge on Jamaat-e-Islami Protest, One Worker Injured

Karachi: A protest by Jamaat-e-Islami continues outside the Sindh Assembly in Karachi, where police used tear gas and baton charges to disperse the demonstrators, leaving one party worker injured.

A spokesperson for Jamaat-e-Islami said that authorities had erected obstacles along the route to the assembly. The party added that march participants were stopped before reaching the Sindh Assembly and vowed to remain on the road until access is granted.

During the confrontation, police actions—including tear gas and baton charges—injured one Jamaat-e-Islami worker, while several police personnel were hurt in stone-pelting by the protesters.

Authorities also confiscated a truck equipped with the party’s sound system and took 10 Jamaat-e-Islami workers into custody.
